So when I spotted this and one other of her prints at an antiques shop

and the form of the vessel with a great pear-like shape

Smiling Old Jointed Clothes Pin Man early 19th century painting the men and horses themselvesA funny, happy little fellow, carved from a clothes pin I believe, with what I might guess is cigar box wood for his arms and legs, attached by wire and moving to and fro. Hes lost the toe of one black painted shoe but otherwise is in very good shape, with black tempera paint for his hat and face, slate gray for his shirt, and bright blue for his pants. 6 t x 1 1 8 wide, sound and not fragile, with a great dark dry wood patina to his face!
