With some research I discovered a post about this exact tin by a German blogger and dedicated collector of repair kit boxes

with its diagonal beautifully echoed by the feathers of his hat and counterpointed by the opposite diagonal of his quiver

and on and around the bottom of the basket (as well as peeking through in a few spots through the woven sweetgrass) have been dyed red

Really a pretty amazing thing

Each leaf of the "tulip" is sewn of at least two layers of wallpaper, and can be flipped the opposite way like a fan to reveal the reverse side. I love it for all of the lovely old wallpaper samples, of course for all the labor that went into making it. 5 3 4" t x 5 3 4" wide when laid
