Surely it was made to hold something specific; possibly an apothecary bottle? Really a lovely addition to a collection of beautiful boxes, and handy for holding pins and needles, pills, q tips, paperclips whatever. It is in very good condition, with a small dark spot on one side of the lid and a small water stain at the base of one side and onto the
