This is one of my more unusual and atmospheric paintings and although still my favourite subject

I wanted to convey the drama created by the dark stormy sky in contrast with the bright sunlight shining onto the beach and the top of the rocks

The area was also recently used as the backdrop for filming scenes for the fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’

I particularly loved the light on the day this reference photograph was taken as the setting sun cast a soft glow over the water and created lovely tones on the rocks
