I've bought and sold a handful of mid-century Zanesville ribbed planters and vases over the years of various sizes

I've certainly seen many a pretty young woman portrayed with this raised hand gesture which

dating to the 1930s or so and marked made in Russian on the underside of the base

which is nothing special but does the job

The carving stands up great on the horizontally flush base

What I love most about the needlepoint itself is that fabulous border, with triangles and squares of directional stitching, in cream and a sort of khaki green, adding up to
