Dog After Pheasant, Old Folk Art Painting on Wood Panel hand-embrodiered This fabulous vintage hand carvedThis is one of a pair of paintings I found together yesterday in Maine, clearly done by the same person and I think equally terrific. (The other is a little smaller.) As opposed to the wolf aggressively chasing a pair of deer in the other painting, here this shaggy dog with what I assume is a pheasant in its sights seems more a lot more friendly than ferocious! The bright sky opening behind him gives this one the feel, to me, of a brisk, invigorating
