Description

and have no real idea what it would have been used for-- but I think it is completely extraordinary

A few losses and splits to the wood of the cat itself as documented

as if guarding the gates to Erongaicuaro

which has turned up nothing

with a latch on the front that closes

19th C. Tunstall, England, Jack and Jill Transferware Child's Alphabet Plate made in Vienna austian and have no real ideaI love this one for the depiction of the fallen Jack and Jill, tumbling dramatically done the hill, feeling a bit Alice in Wonderland y to me. Terrifically rich hand painted color over the transfer, and then of course I love the lettering on the alphabet marching along the rest of the plate like Victorian carved bone spelling letters, too. 7 3 8" in diameter. Good overall condition, with a couple of rim chips as documented. Stamped Turnstall, England
