Elastic Ariel and Monsieur Mercury, c.1840s Hand-colored Engraving handmade wooden signb 3 13/16 x 3 3/4A small thing, which was clearly extracted from a 19th century scrapbook, but which I find just wonderful. I believe the questions along the bottom are riddles, and would guess the answers begin with the letters "T" and "U," printed at upper right which would also imply that there was once a whole alphabet's worth. Terrific block printed color, and I sure love their balletic postures and starry wands! An image search on this one turns up nothing, so
